okay...so I have a friend in the Waterford area who is looking for a retirement home for her old gelding...doesn't have to be fancy, just clean...it would be nice if he had a buddy to be turned out with as he doesn't like to be lonely...he's in good health, UTD on everything...not sure how far away from Waterford she wants to have hime, but I'm sure if it's a reputable home, she'd be happy that he's well taken care of...if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know...

Also, have another friend who has a couple nice mares that he needs to sell...VERY gorgeous palomino 2 yr old filly...been backed a couple times, but is super pretty and put together well...no markings...she is sired by Kings Bad Boy and out of a Fintry Tom Cat granddaughter I believe...he would like $1000 for her...
He also has a 4 yr old black 14.2hh mare...green broke (gets ridden once a week by a girl at his facility)...has only a star...sired by Triple Shadow Tabu and out of a Starbilt mare...very nice mare...he would like $2000 for her
He is supposed to send pics of both mares to me, so if anyone is interested or know of anyone who might be...you can email me at doubletph @ hotmail dot com...I'm going to try to get them up on my website so if anyone is interested in seeing them (not sure when he's going to get the pics to me, but here's the addy anyways) www.doubletph.com

Thanx for any suggestions/interest... ;)

Is your Waterford friend looking to board the senior or rehome?

just board Gruff...she said something where if she wanted to go see him on a weekend but didn't have to see him all the time (sounds bad when it's typed out like that...but honestly, it's not the way it sounds)...so, probably within a 2 hour radius I'm thinking from Waterford?...any idea's?...just needs a good boarding place with a buddy or 2...says he's really submissive with other horses and is a great babysitter...possibly someone who can babysit weanlings???...anyways, any idea's would be great

Would any of these horse make a nice barrell prospect? Or perhaps you know of one for sale elsewhere? I was talking with BonBon the other night and shes thinking its time to find her self a barrell horse. Much deserved I think! She want thinking of something until the spring, but you never know! She wants to learn on it. So it couldnt be something that would kill her! Soemthing that they could either learn together, or an older experienced, but kinda lost the zip, horse! Anyways, just throwing it out there.BonBon can speak for herself!

I have a filly boarded here who is by Kings Bad Boy... not sure who the dam is. She has VERY long pasterns that would not lend themselves to strenuous work. The stallion does not have long pasterns, so could have come from the dam.
Stallion has no real show record but has not got too bad a temperament, conformationally nothing spectacular. More of the kind of horse who would be FAR better off as a gelding, but.... the brain on the filly is lovely, so.... always a major scoring point. ;)
Good luck!

okay...I was mistaken...she wants to rehome him...wires got crossed and alittle miscommunication...sorry...yes, she wants to rehome him...she says he's a real sweetheart, UTD on everything, healthy, just doesn't like to be alone...he's a great babysitter and is not aggressive with other horses...he's her retired cutting horse...his name is Sexy and she's just looking for a safe, clean, good home for the fella...

ya, I live somewhat close to Kings Bad Boy...neat color, but that's about all that interested me personally...he's just not the breeding I'm looking for...I guess the people are getting a divorce and my friend bought this filly off of them...he said the only reason he did was because of her coloring and her conformation...said she's super pretty...he's supposed to send pics of both mares...as soon as he does, I'll put them up on the website and let everyone know

thanx everyone

I suggest your friend with the mares advertise on EMG or horsetrader etc.
Your friend with the senior will likely find a good companion home but it will take time and she'll have to weed through/do some background checking. Even so-called rescues and sanctuaries need to be thoroughly researched so her boy doesn't end up needing to be saved from a bad one. Good luck to both of them, the market is still not the greatest.

Just a chuckle... the stallion owner stumbled upon this website after googling her horses name... bit on the rampage it sounds like for someone DARING to suggest an ok stallion with no show record or foals that do anything be *GASP* gelded!! I rather thought I was quite polite. :) I like the temperament of the filly (good brain) and the funky pasterns 99% chance did NOT come from the stallion. Oh the "allegedly" got her goat too cause I guess she wasn't sure what the heck it meant. I guess she didn't realize that because I really have not a clue who sold the horse etc. I don't know 100% letter of the law who owns the darn thing... so, I wrote "allegedly".

Wow. Several people forwarded me her little ranting diatribe on FB..... pretty silly if you ask me. Some folks read serious issues into where there are none. Ah well...

I will forward the info about the fillies to my list of horsey peeps. Hopefully they will get a bite!

Here we are ladies and gentlemen...

Unfortunately she read FAR more into my comments here than there were. If I REALLY didn't like a horse I would not hesitate to let folks know. I am a brutally honest kid of girl. ;)
But I guess I know jack about horses cause 33 years with them has clearly taught me nothing. ;)

And really? There is nothing wrong with any of the stallions a good gelding wouldn't fix. There are SOOOO many babies out there, why create more out of horses that have nothing to recommend for themselves but colour? But I don't have to tell any of YOU guys on here about that...

Yup Gruff that be the one ;)

Well I know 'western horses' and I don't even need to look at him to know I wouldn't breed to him .... No show record = no breeding in my books - too many good Studs with a show record to breed to a pretty colored one with none - if he's that great get your butt out there and show him. I for one am not hung up on breed titles - but I wouldn't breed to anything without a good show record - and I don't mean small club, schooling or 4H shows.

wow...boy I missed out on this conversation!!...

was interesting to see all the comments...and this other forum where SavingGrace posted all the comments from, has there been anymore comments from them?...I'm just curious to see what *some*people have to say about others when they can be accused of it themselves...

"Some people talk out their ass, because they don't have enough knowledge about something for it to come out of their mouths"

...can they not be accused of that themselves?...look, every person thinks that they're right, if they didn't, they wouldn't think that way...people shouldn't be accusing other people of stuff if they can very well be accused...do we not have better things to do people???

I love the irony of professing to be anti-gossip then posting something highschoolish like that.

I hope you didn't get us all in trouble, SG. (Or should I say XX.)

I wouldnt feel badly Saving Grace, with 33 years of experience with the QH line of horses, anything you had to say was that of own personal opinion, and probably many years of first hand ,eye's on experience, and that is the point of a good Honest Horse forum... I know far less of the QH then I do of the Canadian's , and certainly have particular lines that I prefer and favor !! does that make me nasty ? no.. just a horse lover with the right to express what I personally have seen to be true. and as a matter of record, if I know someone with 33 years experience in Quarter Horses and their bloodlines, chances are I going to heed or at least take a good look at what they tell me !!!

Reply by SavingGrace

March 17, 2010 02:44PM

lol!!! Not.... not proclaiming 33 years with QH's... ;) Just 33 years with horses in general (showing, owning, managing etc etc.). However, I confess to be a big researcher though so do love to educate myself (have had a few QH's over the years and now have a LOVELY AQHA champ who I occasionally think I do not deserve. lol!!) on lines, old and new.
At any rate, an opinion is just that... and we all have 'em, just like...well...you know. ;) Heck, the more I learn, the more I learn what I DON'T know!!!

Ach.... people tend to have issues with honesty these days anyways. No one wants to hear the bad, just the good. (fair enough, but hey.... reailty bites! ;) )

The palomino..... although anything with no show record and mediocre to ok conformation should be a gelding imho. Across the board. :) LOTS of fantastic, proven and championship festooned beasties out there to select as a baby daddy.

Know what? With the nice weather, I don't have time to be going through this thread to see what's up. I skimmed it, didn't see anything too much except the same old names of people with way too much time on their hands coming up.

If anyone is actually offended / upset about this thread, email me, explain to me what the big deal is and I'll make decisions from there.

Otherwise, perhaps its time for some people to get off their butts and get outside and enjoy the weather! :)
