Just in case anyone is interested. For those not familiar with her work - Temple is a Phd animal scientist who has worked for years with the slaughter industry to create more animal friendly conditions and share greater understanding between animals and humans. She brings a special angle as an autistic person (apparently - I'm interested to hear more). She is interesting and raises interesting issues as she supports (to some degree) an industry and perhaps in ways that many do not, but in the process has made things better for the animals. I know that she has worked with likewise employed staff at OMAFRA here in our very neck of the woods...

Thank you so much for posting this, I will definitely watch! I read a book of hers and think she's an incredible person.

I don't get HBO otherwise I would watch it. Have read "Animals in translation" in bits and pieces.

I don't have cable, nevermind HBO, so I know I won't be seeing it, unless I can find it online afterwards. Having worked with autistic kids before, I found her book "Animals In Translation" really quite fascinating.

I'd love to hear about the HBO special if anyone has time and the inclination :)

Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to record, Frisco! I think Rachel was taping it though (and it re-airs several times over the next week for anyone who missed it). I'll make sure she gets the whole thing at one point and then we can invite ourselves over for a viewing, hehe. ;)

I haven't seen any of it yet but it's actually a movie about her life - it should be really interesting. She's done some amazing work.

I really enjoyed that. Very interesting! And she has done/is doing such worthwhile work - it can't have been easy - especially early on. Clare Danes did a really good job as Temple I thought too.
