Hi, I know I'm just new to this board, but this could happen to anyone and I'm looking for help from everyone.
We have a farm at the corner of 6th line and 25 sr in Amaranth Township, Dufferin County. Yesterday, I took the tractor to another property to feed mares and left four dogs loose on a very large property, I'm talking 600 acres. These dogs have never left home and have certainly never missed a meal before. I left three beagles and my australian shepherd pup loose. When I got back, Rocky, one of the beagles and my little Sophie the australian shepherd where there, they are the two timid ones. The other two dogs, 2year old Bolt and 4month old Darla, where gone. Both of these beagles love cars and going for drives. They are both well loved and well fed. Bolt is the dog that I take with me everywhere, he goes in the tractor, or follows it, he's my navigator and my long trip companion. He also went up to the Shelburne Hospital as a visitor for the "inmates". Bolt is the dog that the kids take with them down to the creek to look for old beaver dams, he's my barn dog, he's my cow chasing, leave the damn horses alone dog. Darla is in training to do the same thing; be a wonderful companion/hunting dog. I'd like my dogs back.
So if you hear of anyone who has recently acquired two older beagles, please let me know. They where taken on purpose, right from the front of my property. This was no mistake. No, they have not gone on walkabout, and no, neither the Humane Society or the Amaranth dog catcher has them. I've checked everywhere. I spent all last night driving up and down roads calling their names and I didn't see or hear them. They are both wearing bright orange hunting collars and Bolt has a brass plate with our name and phone number on it. He has a very distinctive "awooo" howl, and has very large "spurs" or dew claws on his back legs that I forgot to remove. Darla is a little smaller than Bolt, he's about 30 lbs and she's about 25lbs. Darla is actually a Walker Hound/Beagle cross, but she looks purebred Beagle. On Darla's left side a white line travels up her side about halfway and looks like it's pointing up her back, dividing the black in two. Both are very, very friendly, and love to go inside the house, but Darla is not housebroken. Should you think that you might know where they are, please call me at 519-925-3879. Thanks for your help with this, it could happen to anyone but I hope it doesn't!
